Food safety

Food safety means that consumers do not run the risk of becoming ill or injured after consuming food. Food safety is a worldwide concern. Not only because of the importance of public health, but also due to its influence on international trade.
European and national Dutch legislation for the food and drinks industry (warenwet) already contain many demands and standards pertaining to food safety. Customers also place additional demands on food safety assurance. As Fruitmasters has been awarded both HACCP and BRC certification, it can comply with the strict demands placed by customers and consumers alike regarding food safety.

HACCP
HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food safety which monitors the safety of food during production, transport, storage and sale. By working according to the regulations of HACCP the risks that could potentially make a foodstuff unsafe are eliminated, or very closely monitored. If, despite precautions, something does go wrong in the process then immediate action can be taken.

BRC
BRC stands for British Retail Consortium and was developed by British supermarket organisations in 1998. BRC is now applied all over the world. The standards encompassed by BRC concern food safety, quality and the system used to monitor these processes. Many customers (worldwide) base their supplier assessment on BRC.
